New Ecodesign Centre Project: Higher Education Academy Funds Ecodesign Centre Research
The Ecodesign Centre are pleased to announce that the Higher Education Academy is funding research in the role of interdisciplinarity in design education. This research will be collaboration between the Ecodesign Centre and Newport School of Art, Media & Design. The research will explore the context and opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and teaching for sustainability across design (e.g. product, graphic, engineering, fashion, art) as well as non-design disciplines (e.g. science, social sciences, geography).
These collaborative activities will involve an existing informal network of design educators across four universities in Wales alongside representatives from other departments and universities (not exclusively in Wales). It builds on a previous programme of capacity building on design education for sustainability delivered by the Ecodesign Centre and the PhD research of Jane Davison (Interdisciplinary learning: the relationship between policy and practice in higher education).
