‘Is slow beautiful? Can we find slow in the products we use?’ presented at the Slow is Beautiful Conference 14-16 November 2008, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
This weekend conference explored the worldwide “Slow Movement” and the benefits it could bring to our lives and the resources of our planet. EDC’s presentation incorporated a number of points on the relationships designers and consumers have with products and how these relationships can allow for dialogues around sustainable issues. ‘Exchange of experiences in the field of resource efficiency in Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME)’ presented at the 12th European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (erscp2008) hosted by 5th BMBF Forum for Sustainability, Berlin, Germany
These two multi-stakeholder conferences ran in parallel and brought together delegates to share knowledge and experiences in sustainability research and in tackling the SCP agenda. 'Is ecodesign really good design?' presented at the Impact 2008 Creative Conference 17 June 2008, Glasgow, UK
The conference brought together speakers from throughout the UK to discuss the impact of, and their involvement in, the Creative Industries. EDCs presentation explored what ecodesign means in practice, drawing on recent experiences working with a range of stakeholders including design educators, manufacturers and designers.

'Building capacity for ecodesign in SMEs. Regional perspectives', presented at OECD-UNEP Conference on Resource Efficiency 23-25 April, 2008, Paris, France
EDC delivered a presentation on our experiences of building capacity for ecodesign in Wales in the ‘International co-operation and partnerships’ module. The presentation set the Welsh context, recognising the unique position that EDC is in, being able to work in close partnership with policy makers, small businesses and educators. Fashion Conscience? - Sustainability of the High Street Clothing Industry Seminar

EDC highlighted the ecodesign agenda in the fashion and textile sectors through a seminar run by Sustainable Wales, supported by the Sustainable Futures Division of the Welsh Assembly Government. The seminar also included presentations from Forum for the Future, War on Want, Shailesh Patel – an Indian Fairtrade Cotton production specialist and Wales Fair Trade Forum. Polish Packaging Industry and Design Conference
